A step-by-step guide on how to earn some money, guaranteed; with no initial investment or commitment

[Article updated on 18th January 2022]

In this article, I will tell you:

  • How to earn some money with no investment and no commitment, using online tools
  • How to invest, manage and grow the ‘easy money’ into more money

Note, the resources I provide in this article are from the UK (because that’s where I live), but the information and approaches I describe are applicable globally.

Starting with Nothing

Get a Curve Card

Apply for a Curve card and receive £5 as a sign-up offer. This is a Mastercard that ‘maps’ to your debit/credit card. Use it for additional rewards, functionality and security in addition to your existing payment cards — see my article on Curve for more information.

Get a 1% Cashback Card from Crypto.com

Ctypto.com offers a free pre-paid Visa debit card that provides 1% cashback as CRO (their cryptocurrency coin).

You can earn CRO on almost all your spend (some purchases such as insurance are exempt from earning cashback) and then ‘stake’ it to earn over 12% APR.

They also offer discounted gift cards at many places.

See my articles on the Crypto.com card, DeFi and gift card services.

Earn while you Learn

The Coinbase Rewards program pays you in cryptocurrency for watching videos and answering questions. This is really easy and only takes a few minutes. You can keep the cryptocurrency invested, or cash it out to your bank account.

Earn while you browse the Web

The Brave web browser allows you to earn BAT token whilst you browse the web as you would normally. You just have to allow it to show you some adverts (you can define the frequency). You can keep the BAT, or cash it out to your bank account.

Earn while you use Microsoft Products

The Microsoft rewards program allows you to earn points for several things including:

  • Using the Microsoft Edge web browser
  • Using the Microsoft bing search engine
  • Playing games on Xbox
  • Taking quizzes, polls, etc.

The points can be redeemed for gift cards, which you can use or sell.

Sell Items you Don’t Need

Use services such as WeBuyBooks for an easy way to sell these

  • Books
  • CD’s/DVD/BluRays
  • Video Games
  • Board Games

The app tells you how much each item is worth and they will pick up the items from you for free.

WeBuyGames is similar, they accept:

  • Books
  • CD’s/DVD/BluRays
  • Video games
  • Game consoles
  • Lego
  • Video game figures

You can also use other free services such as Facebook marketplace and Craigslist.

Rubbish has Value

You will be surprised at what you can sell. MoneySavingExpert has a list of ‘Rubbish Sales’ on eBay, which includes jam jars, perfume bottles, toilet roll tubes, kitchen roll tubes, shirt buttons, plastic milk bottle tops.

Starting with Something

Once you have some money, use this money to make more money!

Get Free Shares

As an incentive, when you open accounts with some share trading companies, they give you a free share, typically worth around £10; sometimes up to £150.

You can keep the share invested or sell it and withdraw the cash to your bank account.

  • Register with Trading212 and fund your account with at least £1 to receive a free share
  • Register with Freetrade and fund your account with at least £2 to receive a free share
  • Register with Stake and fund your account with at least £50 to receive a free share

Matched Betting

Use the free bets and bonuses that betting companies offer, to make some guaranteed income. I’ve used Profit Accumulator to earn over £300, this was easy. After the £300, I found that profit was still possible, but the time required to set things up increased significantly. These videos explain it well:

Turning your ‘Seed Money’ into Real Money

Once you’ve earned some easy money, you now have 3 tasks:

  • Spend efficiently
  • Save wisely
  • Re-invest in yourself and wealth-building opportunities
