The Essential Guide to Discounted Gift Cards with Crypto.com Pay

What is Crypto.com Pay?
The Crypto.com Pay service allows you to purchase gift cards for several retailers at a discount of up to 10%. You pay the full price and get the discount as CRO.
Stake 10,000 CRO to get the Best Discount
When purchasing the gift cards the amount of discount available is determined by:
- Category
- The amount of CRO you are currently staking
The 10,000 CRO (or more) can be staked in any of these sources:
- Crypto.com Visa Debit Card (Ruby Red tier or above)
- Crypto.com Earn (you must be in a 3 month term)
- Crypto.com Exchange (10% APR with 180 day lock-in) — I don’t recommend this, use DeFi instead for a higher stake and 28 day lock-in (unbonding period)
How to Purchase Gift Cards from Crypto.com
Register an account on Crypto.com
This is free. If you’re reading this, you might already have an account 👍
Stake 10,000 CRO to get up to 10% cashback (optional)
- Stake 10,000 CRO in the app (Visa Debit Card or 3 month earn) or the Exchange (not recommended — DeFi gives a better return with shorter lock-in)
Check the Cashback Offer
From the Crypto.com app:
- Select the Crypto.com logo (bottom, middle of the screen — it looks like a lion)
- Select ‘Pay’
- Select ‘Gift Cards’
- Select ‘Shop Now’
- Select a retailer
- You will see the confirmation on how much cashback you will get (e.g. 10%)
Buy CRO (for gift card payment)
- From the Crypto.com app, select ‘Wallet’
- Select ‘CRO (crypto.com)’
- Select ‘Buy’
- Enter and purchase an amount of CRO
Buy the gift card
From the Crypto.com app:
- Select the Crypto.com logo (bottom, middle of the screen)
- Select ‘Pay’
- Select ‘Gift Cards’
- Select ‘Shop Now’
- Select a retailer
- Check the amount of cashback being offered
- Enter the amount you would like to purchase
- Select ‘Pay’
- Select the CRO wallet
- Select ‘Continue’
- Payment and receipt of the gift card will be instant. The card will appear in the app. When you select it, it opens in your web browser
- You can use the gift card from within your web browser on your phone, or print it. I have even sent my wife the URL and she has been able to use it from the web browser on her phone
Managing the cashback
- You will get the cashback (as CRO) immediately
- You can keep it as CRO, or convert it into another currency (fiat or crypto). I send my CRO cashback to DeFi, to earn interest
FAQ’s
How fast is the ordering process?
You pay full price for the gift cards, then get cashback as CRO instantly.
The gift cards are digital. Once purchased, you will receive them in a few minutes in the app and via e-mail.
Will the gift cards expire?
There is no expiration date for US gift cards.
For non-US gift cards, the expiration date will be stated in the email. The gift cards I’ve ordered in the UK have typically had an expiration date of 2 years from the time of purchase.
How do I track the balance on the gift cards?
Contact the merchant directly for the latest available balance.
Can I use the gift cards online or instore?
Some gift cards can be used online or instore, some online only and some instore only. Check the terms before you purchase.
Where can I find my purchased gift cards?
All gift cards are in electronic form. They will be delivered both in-app and to your registered email address.
Are there any limits for the gift card purchases?
The maximum daily limit is a total of USD 1,000 or equivalent.
Can I buy these gift cards for friends and family?
Yes. The gift card redemption instructions are sent to you in-app and via email. You can share the email with other people.
Which coins can I use to purchase the gift cards?
The gift cards can be purchased with BTC, CRO, ETH, LTC or XRP, but you will only receive CRO cashback if you purchase them with CRO.
Do I have to use the whole value of the gift card in one purchase?
You do not have to use a gift card’s full value in one purchase. e.g. from a $100 gift card you could spend $20 one week, $25 the next week, etc.

Exchanging Listed Gift Cards for Unlisted Gift Cards
During a promotion in 2020, Tesco gift cards were on offer at 10% discount. I was able to buy Tesco gift cards at 10% discount and exchange them in-store for Amazon vouchers, thereby getting a 10% discount on Amazon!
Here’s a receipt showing that I converted a £200 Tesco gift card to a £200 Amazon gift card:
Not all stores will allow the exchange of gift cards from one to another, so try with a small amount before making a large purchase.
